Psychotherapy is the treatment of mental disorders by psychological rather than medical means. It is the use of psychological methods, particularly with regular personal interactions, to help a person change and overcome problems. Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual’s well-being. It aims to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviors, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, and to improve relationships and social skills.
There are over a thousand different psychotherapy techniques, some being minor variations, while others based on esoteric conceptions of psychology. Most involve one-on-one sessions, between client and therapist, but some are conducted with groups, including families.
Some of the most popular and commonly known psychotherapies are REBT, CBT, Gestalt therapy and Aversion therapy. The success of these therapies have two major drawbacks, one being dependent on the skill and knowledge of the psychotherapist and the other being limited applicability (based on the psychological disorder).
Graphotherapy is a panacea therapy. It can be administered to anyone from the young to the old. Graphotherapy unlike other psychotherapies is not highly dependent on the psychotherapist. It can be administered by any certified therapist with relevant experience and knowledge in this field. The only job of the therapist is to guide and make sure that no mistakes are being made in the strokes and patterns being administered. The skill of the therapist, of course, comes into play, when a client is unwilling to undergo the entire process of the therapy. The ability to choose and administer the right patterns and strokes for a particular disorder depends on the experience and wisdom of the therapist. However, if a client is ready to undergo a full-fledged transformation and come out successfully as a new, evolved, caring, loving and empathetic personality, the therapist’s guidance would suffice.
Graphotherapy can cure almost any psychosomatic, mental and emotional disturbance. It can not only help the personality from overcoming their current mental disorder but also protect the personality from future attacks of the same. It transforms the person into a holistic being. It is truly a panacea therapy. Several subconscious defects within us surface and come to the conscious mind. After this process, the defect is removed and the personality moves one step closer to improvement. This process repeats until all the impurities in our mind and body are removed.
This therapy is also used by many practitioners around the world to cure physical illness too. Due to the highly intricate amalgamation of the body and the mind. Tools of the mind have an impact on the body. Not only treatment but also diagnosis is possible through and during graphotherapy. A client of mine who was suffering from Kidney stones and was advised an operation. She started therapy and eventually saw tremendous improvements in her kidney functionality. The size of her stones decreased and eventually came out in the urine.
Graphotherapy has impacted the lives of millions of people around the world. Unfortunately, there is a lack of awareness of this magical science in India. I hope through this article, I have come one step closer in creating an awareness of this therapy.
Have a nice life!
